The Reality Is...

The reality of life is hard to see sometimes, especially when your head is down and you're dancing as fast as you can. Bear with me....this post won't be as ominous as it sounds.

It occurred to me today that I need to face the facts. Who better to share them with than you?

We have a new addition at our house. I have fought this for years. Finally, I just got tired of fighting...and so, meet Pumpkin.

This little girl is 3 months old and belongs, officially, to my daughter Emily. At 21, she made the decision to get a puppy....even though I tried to talk her out of it, what with Grandma here, me working, her school and work schedule, etc., but it was no use. My girl has wanted a dog literally since she could say "doggie." Those close to me know what a struggle this has been. The reality is that Pumpkin is here now. To her credit, she is a good pup and Emily takes wonderful care of her. My mom is sure getting a kick out of her, too.

Fact two is that, as hard as I try and as much as I talk about it, my beloved projects are on the back burner.....and may simmer there for some time. My life belongs to my loved ones for now, so I'll get to them when I get to them, and not a moment sooner. Saying that last bit seems to have lifted something from my shoulders....I'm not sure what, but I feel better all the same.

Fact three: I need to take better care of myself....a lamentation floating around my head for the last couple of years. I've heard it, read about it, and been told flat out...."if you don't take care of yourself first, you won't be in good enough shape to take care of anyone else." I understand it, believe it, and know I have to implement a program ASAP.

**********
My hubby has returned from a week-long business trip, and boy-o-boy I'm glad he's home. After 25+ years of the goodbyes and welcome homes, I still miss him terribly. We have a busy weekend planned. I am actually looking forward to scrubbing my floor in the morning while my guys attend an auto show. Then it's some shopping and various sundries to fill in the hours. I'm hoping you are all looking forward to a nice weekend, filled with nothing but happy realities.

Amy, your home is going to be filled with so much more joy with Pumpkin around. Pumpkin is a beauty. She will just fill the air with lots of jumping around and running and playing. You won't regret it. Welcome to world of doggieland. You are just going to fall in love with her. Your mom already is having fun and remember what they say, that when people are ill, dogs help them feel better. Ooooh I am so happy for you and you sound like you are anxiously waiting to get on with things you have to do. You go girl! I'm happy for you and take care. Have a great weekend.

Puppies are cute! We've had our share of pets over the years. Still have two dogs and one cat.

Pumpkin is soooo cute! Perfect name for her coloring.
Our health care sent an email stating how pets are beneficial to well-being so I keep sending that to my hubby. We had a dog for 15 years and I am ready for another. My DH is away out of the country on business and may have to extend his stay so it would be nice to have a little companion following me around.

What a precious little friend you have there! I'm certain he'll fill your life with much joy.

I am in the same mindset as you about taking care of myself. It's not easy, but as I understand it, it gets easier with time.

Whew! What a relief -- I thought you were going to be sharing some bad news. Pumpkin is adorable! I predict you and she will soon be best friends -- she'll worm her way into your heart! There's always time for sewing -- you have your priorities set straight!

OH Amy,
Pumpkin is so cute...I know you are worried, but your daughter is old enough to take care of her right...
I have had so much unconditional love from my sweet little Cody since I got him...
You'll see...you will become the best of friends.
Please, please, please...do take care of yourself. I know it is hard to do when doing so much for everyone else...but, you are very important too!
Thanks so much for being a good friend.

Blessings for a beautiful Sunday,
Susie

What a cute puppy! I don't think you will regret getting it for a moment. Dogs can bring such joy and comfort to us!

Oh boy, I got sucked into that puppy trap myself after years of saying no. That's how we got Sr. Winston Churchill 5 years ago! And you know what, I can't image life without him now. Although all of the work that accompanies a dog has been now turned over to me, by default. . . um yeah!!

Blessings,

Sher

Pumpkin is adorable. Puppies are more work than a newborn (I think) but worth every bit. When I was just looking though Aggie's puppy pics.. ohhh... my heart. lol.

Dear Amy,
Pumpkin is gorgeous. I'm sure she will grow on you very quickly. She will be good for your Mum too.
Yes, now you make sure you do take care of yourself.
God Bless

I know how you feel, I fought the good fight for years. My kids never had a dog, but we raised our granddaughter and low and behold she talked us into a dog, with the coaching of her fifth grade teacher, which I should of strangled with my bear hands, ha ha. Who took care of it most of the time, you guessed it. Well any way have a great weekend.

The moment I saw Pumpkin's picture, my heart melted. What a sweet little thing.
Amy, I also felt the same way about having a pet in the house but now I don't know what I would do without him.
Take care, enjoy time spent with your family. Everything else will fall into place somewhere down the road.
Aloha!
