A Little Late......Or Very Early

Sometimes the hubster really surprises me with his fabulous ideas.

On our way home yesterday, he reminded me we would be passing by one of my favorite places for "sheep stuff," and suggested we stop. Since this lovely place is about fifty miles from home, I readily agreed.

As we approached the victorian house, rolling hills and yarn shop, my anticipation grew.

It was short-lived, however, when I saw this...

Notice it says "Closed July and August." I think somewhere deep in my memory I knew that. I did appreciate Hubby's thoughtfulness, nonetheless.

Today I skipped over to the bookstore to use up a coupon and store credit. Side note: Does anybody else tire of the "plastic" in their wallet? My seems filled up, what with all the gift cards and such. Not that I mind receiving them, but I tend to hold onto them forever and then get a slight panic to use them up once I remember they're in there. Anyway, here's what my trip produced.....

I love to bake!! The pictures in the book are nice and the recipes look easy and delicious. The craft book speaks for itself, especially the part about the "farmgirl projects." Did you know about my dreams of living on a (small) farm? Perhaps I'll tell you all about it in a future post. Until then, blessings and peace from the 'Acre.

Saying Goodbye

My Uncle Larry passed away on Friday at the age of 93. He will be greatly missed in our family. Uncle Larry loved to play cards, and loved to tinker around on stuff.

Not too much tonight. I'm tired and the next few days will be busy. Hope you have a peaceful evening.....tell someone you love them.

Day Trippin'

The hubby and I were off for a day trippin' adventure early this morning. Originally planned as an "overnighter," then an "all-day" outing, our little trip turned out even shorter, due to a call from the hubster's work. Oh well, we enjoyed what we did get to see.

We headed off to Frankenmuth, Michigan. One of the many things I love about this little town is the cleanliness and this beautiful covered bridge. You can walk across, drive across, or take a horse and buggy across.

A stop at the only local knit shop yielded two skeins of Plymouth sock yarn (picture in an upcoming post). I just couldn't seem to find anything that really "wowed" me. I was tickled to find a shop called Abbey Rose. It was perfect for anybody who loves Victorian decor, tea everything, and just about every kind of "foo foo" you could use.

Lingering was out of the question.....duty had already called by this time. So, as I was making my way to pay for a little teapot ornament, I spotted the tea cup and saucer display rack. My small collection of teacups is slowly growing, and I think it's a great way to display them.

All in all, we had a lovely day. Hope yours was, too. Peace and blessings....

My Kind of Day

Today the weather turned the corner for the better...cooler and less humid. The blue sky and white, fluffy clouds remind me of a fall day, which leads to thoughts of mums and pumpkins. Fall is my favorite season, but Christmas is my favorite holiday. What is your favorite season and favorite holiday? Peace and blessings to you....

Happy Birthday My Dear Sherry

Happy Birthday to my best friend, Sherry. Can you believe we have known each other almost 25 years? Sherry is the most creative and loving person I have the pleasure of knowing....visit her blog and see for yourself. Love you, Kiddo!

Here's a little corner of my garden. A simple little thing, really, but one that has brought me such joy this year. The ivy is all from just one little plant.

I recently happened on this lite and easy dessert for myself. Never a big fan of vanilla anything, one evening that's the only kind of pudding I had in the pantry. Wanting to use up some milk, I thought I'd go ahead and make the vanilla for one of the kids or the hubby. Well, nobody was interested, so I dug around in the freezer and found a few frozen strawberries and one lone cool whip. My impromptu dessert has become my favorite in a few short days....and it's low calorie and inexpensive to boot.

Ringing off for now....hope you all have a peaceful evening : )
P.S. The cooking at home plan is going good.....tonight we're having grilled burgers and a zucchini casserole that is really easy and delicious.

Friday...And The Living Is Easy

Yep, it's Friday and I'm home today. Lovin' every minute of it...so far. I'm home alone right now (possibly the source of my elation). Gotta get in gear and run around. The list is growing and if I think about it, I feel like I'm spinning my wheels getting everything accomplished. So...I'm not thinking about it! What I am thinking about is what to make for dinner. We are under new dictatorship around here when it comes to spending and especially eating out. So, my self-imposed new rule is making more work for me, but had to be done. Tonight's dinner, since it is still so hot and humid, will be sandwiches on homemade bread and possibly some homemade potato soup.

Past experience shows that I usually get off to a booming start with the "eating at home every night" plan, but it begins to fizzle about week #2. Since I know that caring for my family in a responsible way is very God pleasing, I have a new game plan this time. First of all, I want to try some new recipes. I know the best way to achieve success is using good planning (like remembering the day before to take the meat out of the freezer....and having the necessary ingredients available). I think I have to plan more simple meals in the mix....a gal can't make a delectable roast with all the trimmings every night, can she? I'll say my prayers and stay positive.

Hope your day is filled with love and peace.

Hot Humid and Happy

It's sticky here today. I made it outside earlier this morning to water, but I didn't linger. I am blessed to have it cool inside so...
...The sewing room called to me. I finished up a couple of projects.

A nightie for me. I love a good bargain. This fabric was in the clearance section, and then reduced again by 50%. How could I pass it up?

This purse has been done for a couple of weeks, but I wanted to add a "little something extra." Not sure I am thrilled with the beads, but I'll think on it a while.
Errands and work tomorrow, but maybe I'm on a roll. Tonight I'd like to knit a few rows, and work on a project I can't show just yet.....someone's birthday is fast approaching. Have a peaceful evening.
